Joanna at Home ...

While I’ve been blessed to partner with God through writing and speaking, my greatest joy is being a pastor’s wife and a mother to three amazing kids.

When John and I met at youth camp, I was immediately impressed by his passion for God. I still am! The fact he’s really cute and lots of fun makes me feel very blessed indeed. We’ve been privileged to serve the Body of Christ in full-time ministry for over 27 years.

After John Michael and Jessica came along, I thought our family was complete. When they grew up to be great young people with amazing hearts after God, well, what more could a mother want?

Obviously, God had a little something more in mind. Five days after celebrating our 21st anniversary, I gave birth to Joshua Douglas Weaver. Today, he’s six years old and an extra-special gift to the whole family.

When I showed a dear friend my developing website, she said “I always click on the ‘get to know’ button but I never learn anything because no one is real enough to tell the audience about themselves. Why don’t you let me tell your readers who you really are, Joanna?”

So here’s what my sweet friend, Kay, wrote about me so that, as she puts it, “You would know that I am a “real” girl and I sincerely want you to know who I am.”

JoAnna…is a wonderful friend. She sees the best in the situation….she sees the best in people….I personally think she is “Polly Anna" naive sometimes but she convicts me that I should give more situations & people the benefit of the doubt….she says wonderful things about her husband….always shows him respect…she lives by her convictions …but she does not preach to us who don’t have the same convictions…she is entertaining…tripping over…spilling….dropping…running over…things. She tends to whine but when she looks at me I convict her to suck it up. She is a wonderful mother…she is patient and supportive of her children…she and I have a common bond in that we both have had children in our 40’s….having children at this age reminds most women of what is really important…and Joanna gets it…she is easily distracted but she tries hard to stay focused….she loses things…like car keys….she does weird things like trying to tie a ski lift ticket to her jacket with a McDonalds stir stick….she runs over people’s skis when skiing…but will crawl up the ski slope to help them get up, make sure they are ok, and make friends with them….she takes time to play cards with young people even when she is on a writing deadline...she dishes out correction to her friends in a way that actually helps…she is always trying to be a more godly woman….a better example….she gets it that she is a “work in progress”….she understands it is “not all about her” and she lives her life that way….she gives God the credit for everything that she does. Joanna makes me laugh! I enjoy being with her! She is one of those women you look at and say “I could be friends with her”. She is an author that I would buy every book she has written because I want to read everything she has published. Joanna is a good woman.

This is what my 8 year old son wrote about Joanna while she was visiting us. I home school him and as a writing project …since Joanna was here visiting….I told him his writing assignment for the day was entitled “Joanna”.
