“God is either everything or nothing!”
Have you ever felt torn between loving Jesus and loving yourself, wanting to live for Him but still doing things your own way?
In this episode, Lisa Whittle shares from her newest book, Jesus Over Everything: Uncomplicating the Daily Struggle to Put Jesus First about her personal struggle to daily keep Jesus number one and how He changed her perspective.
We all have different distractions and things we run to in difficult times, but Jesus wants to deliver us from it all. It is not until we relinquish our right to live our own way that we truly discover freedom and the life we were created to live.

Important Takeaways from Show
- Deadly Overs: Our go-to behaviors that we think simplify our lives, but instead complicate things by making it all about us
- Over-apologizing, over-explaining, over-indulging, and over-working are all examples of “deadly overs” that stand in the way of getting closer to Jesus
- When we put Jesus over everything truly uncomplicates our lives
- We will never be satisfied until Jesus is in His rightful place
- Connecting with God through striving doesn’t work
- Evaluate if there is anything you are doing on a habitual level to escape from life and give it to Jesus
- When God puts His finger on an area in your life, He will also give you the strength and grace to deal with it
- Holiness over freedom – when we do not keep the guard rails of Scripture on our freedoms we begin to enslave ourselves, but in Christ we can experience true freedom
- Jesus guides us into holiness because He knew that on the other side is pain and enslavement
- “I run in the path of your commands for you have set my heart free” ~ Psalm 119:32
- “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything builds up. ~ 1 Corinthians 10:23
- Whatever you are resisting letting go of the hardest is what you may need to relinquish to Jesus
- True holiness leads to wholeness and everything God created us for
- You will never regret giving more to Jesus
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (Colossians 1:16-18)
