“Your story does not disqualify you!”
Are you still clinging tightly to the broken pieces and shattered dreams in your life? There is good news, my friend!
In this episode, Sharon Jaynes, shares from her newest book, “When You Don’t Like Your Story: What If Your Worst Chapters Could Become Your Greatest Victories?” about the redemptive power of God. Sharon demonstrates how God can use the parts of our stories that we wish were erased to grow us and reveal Himself to us and the world around us. While we can never change the past, with God we can always redeem it!
If you are still carrying the hurt of your past, this word is for you. The issues that have bound and held you for far too long are going to be broken as you release them into God’s hands. Today is your day of deliverance!

Important Takeaways from Show
- Your story does not disqualify you
- The Bible is full of personal stories of redemption
- Like Rahab, God wants to turn our stories around and use them for good
- God doesn’t comfort us just to make us comfortable, but so that we can comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:4)
- Sharing our stories is a part of overcoming the enemy in our lives (Revelations 12:11)
- It is in the hard parts of our story that God meets us most
- Rather than say “why me?” we can ask God “what now?”
- We have to let go of the broken pieces we cling to and allow God to make something beautiful with it
- Healing starts with the decision that you want to be free and made well
- When we’ve embraced lies as our identity we have to renew our minds through the Word to tell a new story
- We often think it is easier to stay in disfunction than to be healed and move into the unknown
- When we refuse to believe what God says about ourselves over our own thoughts we bind and lock ourselves up
- We have to keep our story centered on Jesus and His power to redeem
- When we offer the difficult and weak places in our story to Jesus, He can use it in powerful ways
- Sometimes God will not talk to you about your future until you deal with your past
- The power of our past is broken when we open up and share our stories
STEPS TO HEALING:
- Choose healing – decide that you want to move beyond the hurt and pain toward healing
- Leave the pain place – forgive those who have hurt you
- Leave the shame place – receive God’s forgiveness and forgive yourself
- Tell your story

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
