How do we keep going when everything inside shouts to give up?
In this episode, I share some important lessons I’ve learned about persevering over the past five years of writing.
Whether you’re in the middle of a huge project that feels overwhelming, or in a difficult season that seems like it will never end, God wants to give you the stick-to-itiveness to press on and push through. For the Bible promises a “harvest of blessings if we don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9).
FIVE THINGS TO REMEMBER IN THE DIFFICULT MIDDLE:
1. You are not alone
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deuteronomy 31:8)
2. You aren’t doing it wrong
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. (Galatians 6:9)
3. Find a sustainable pace
Throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us… (Hebrews 12:1)
4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me…and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11;28-29)
5. Keep on keeping on
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4)
