From the time that I was a little girl I have always loved
God’s Word. I was enthralled by the
repeated themes of God’s love, His mercy and His incredible power to change a willing
heart. As a task-oriented woman I have
shied away from reading the Bible through in a year. I feared that it would feel like a “to-do
list” and would take away from my love for the life-giving influence of God’s Word. I had read through the Bible, but never in a
year and never in an orderly fashion.

As I started this year I
knew that things would be different.
I felt a calling to discipline. I
felt a calling to immerse myself in the Word.

Psalm
27:8 (NLT) says, “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

Even before I started to read I felt great
anticipation. I knew that I would find
life in those pages, and I knew it would be like something I had never
experienced before. I began to journey
through the Bible using the same Bible reading plan you can find in the back of
At the Feet of Jesus. I found myself excited as I read through
Numbers (is that even possible?) and saw a Holy God who was faithful to His
word. I saw the love of Jesus reach out
to the outcast and to the sinner. I
experienced conviction as the Lord revealed parts of my heart that were not
fully His.

I found hope and encouragement to live in a world that is
not my home as I wait for Christ’s return.
God has given us this great gift, the Bible, so He can come and talk
with us. Will we respond with open
hearts and say, “Yes, Lord, I will listen.”?

I invite you to join me and read through the Bible in a
year. Your heart will be changed and your
investment will be well worth it!
